The Aave DAO has overwhelmingly approved a proposal to allow the Ink Foundation to launch a white-label version of Aave V3. This move, passed with a resounding 99.8% in favor, will enable the Ink Foundation, a non-profit organization supporting Kraken's Ethereum Layer 2 network (also named Ink), to leverage Aave's battle-tested infrastructure for its own native lending platform.

The Aave DAO sees this as a significant opportunity to expand its influence in the institutional lending space while upholding its commitment to technological excellence. By granting a license for a rebranded, centralized version of the lending platform utilizing Aave's codebase, the collaboration aims to bridge decentralized and centralized finance more effectively.

Key Aspects of the Partnership:

  • Aave DAO Support and Revenue Share: Aave DAO service providers will assist the Ink Foundation with their Aave V3 instance for the initial six months. In return, the Aave DAO will receive a share of the new platform's revenue, equivalent to or greater than a Reserve Factor of 5% based on borrow volume across all pools.
  • Exclusivity Clause: To ensure dedication to this initiative, the Ink Foundation and its centralized partners are prevented from seeking collaborations with other lending protocols for a minimum of 12 months after deployment.
  • Ink Foundation's Commitment: The Ink Foundation plans to dedicate substantial resources to the launch and growth of this white-label Aave V3 instance. This includes the introduction of several liquidity mining programs designed to attract over $250 million in initial liquidity to the platform.

Aave V3 is already a widely adopted protocol, currently deployed across 17 different chains, including major networks like Ethereum, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, and Polygon, according to DefiLlama data. This strategic partnership with the Kraken-incubated Ink Foundation underscores Aave's continued efforts to broaden its reach and influence within the evolving DeFi landscape.
