BlackRock is actively shifting its institutional capital from Ethereum [ETH] to Bitcoin [BTC]. The firm's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) recorded significant net inflows of $366.2 million, while its iShares Ethereum Trust (ETHA) experienced net outflows of $17.39 million.
This is not the first time BlackRock has made a similar move, and the scale of the Bitcoin purchase stands out within the ETF market. Other major funds, like Fidelity's FBTC and Bitwise's BITB, also saw inflows, but BlackRock's Ethereum product was the only major one to see substantial withdrawals.
This trend is also reflected in the broader crypto market. On September 12, Bitcoin's value was $116,162, a gain of 0.54% in 24 hours, and it has risen by over 102% in the last year. While Ethereum's price has also shown strong short-term gains, rising 4.01% in 24 hours and 98.5% over the past year, it is lagging behind Bitcoin in terms of institutional investment flows.
This movement confirms that BlackRock, a major market influencer, continues to show a clear preference for Bitcoin as a top reserve asset, signaling a broader institutional trend.
