Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and the new proprietor of the Twitter platform, now rebranded as X, has informed the X and cryptocurrency communities about an enhanced tool to combat deepfake scams on the social media platform.

Musk made this announcement while quoting a tweet from Community Notes, a feature on the X app that provides corrections to posts, often alerting readers to fake or misleading information or providing updates.

The Community Notes update includes improved image matching, allowing for more extensive coverage of X posts (approximately 30% more) containing similar or identical images.

Musk commented on this update, stating, "This should make a significant difference in defeating deepfakes (and shallowfakes)."

Musk's tweet prompted numerous responses from the cryptocurrency community. Many X users expressed excitement about the new rollout and thanked Musk and Community Notes. XRP activist @XRPcryptowolf jokingly inquired once again about when XRP payments would be integrated into X.

RPL validator Vet dispelled rumors about XRP payments being tested on the X platform, although the company plans to introduce internal payments later this year.

The Dogecoin community is hopeful that Musk, a prominent supporter of DOGE, will include this meme cryptocurrency as a payment option, although no recent statements from Musk on this matter have been observed.

However, one thing clarified by Musk's tweets is that X will not be launching its own cryptocurrency, "Xcoin."
