Cryptocurrency exchange Gemini has received a MiCA license from the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA), which will allow it to provide virtual asset services throughout the European Union. This new license, combined with its existing MiFID II approval, enables Gemini to operate in over 30 European countries.

Gemini stated that this achievement highlights its dedication to regulatory compliance as the foundation for broader crypto adoption. The company noted that the MiCA framework is crucial for providing clarity and protecting investors.

Gemini is not the only major crypto platform to secure this license; others like Kraken, Coinbase, and Bybit have also received MiCA approval. The MiCA regulation, passed in June 2023, is being phased in by EU member states and is changing how crypto companies can operate across the continent. Gemini is also expanding its offerings in Europe, having recently launched 24/7 trading of tokenized stocks on the Arbitrum blockchain.
