Despite a 93% year-over-year drop in crypto gaming funding, small teams are still finding ways to launch projects. One such example is Jakpot Games, a Solana-based platform built by a three-person team.
The platform offers a simple, arcade-style experience where players use the native JAKPOT token to compete for high scores in browser-based games like Rex Runner and Speed Racer. Players participate in tournaments that last 12-24 hours, with winners receiving a share of the token pot.
Jakpot's co-founder, Gannon Breslin, noted that 85% of each prize pot is distributed to top-scoring players, with the remaining funds going to the team for development and marketing, as well as rolling over into the next round. Since its recent launch, the platform has seen 7,316 games played and 26.7 million JAKPOT tokens paid out.
The team has already had to deal with cheaters, and Breslin says that continuously improving their anti-cheat measures is a top priority. The price of the JAKPOT token has also dropped significantly from its all-time high, but Breslin states that the team is focused on user engagement rather than market capitalization. Future plans include a "Degen" mode with higher stakes, custom game lobbies, and adding more titles to the platform.
Jakpot faces competition from other crypto gaming projects and platforms, but its lean team is dedicated to building and growing the platform in the challenging crypto gaming landscape.
