Japanese company Metaplanet is set to significantly increase its Bitcoin holdings. The firm has announced a plan to raise approximately $837 million through an international stock offering, with the primary goal of acquiring more Bitcoin.

Metaplanet, which transitioned from a music and hotel company to a Bitcoin treasury firm in 2024, aims to use these funds to quickly grow its Bitcoin net asset value. By doing so, the company hopes to maximize both the amount of Bitcoin per share and the overall Bitcoin yield.

The stock offering is expected to be available in September to investors outside of Japan, though it will have restrictions for U.S. customers. Metaplanet currently holds 18,991 BTC, valued at around $2.13 billion, making it the world's seventh-largest corporate holder of the cryptocurrency. At the time of this announcement, Bitcoin was trading at about $111,930.
