MicroStrategy's Executive Chairman, Michael Saylor, recently highlighted his company's unprecedented speed in converting fresh capital into Bitcoin ($BTC), hinting at further purchases.
Saylor stated that the Bitcoin investment cycle is "a thousand times faster" than traditional asset classes like real estate or oil and gas. He claimed MicroStrategy can execute $100 million in Bitcoin purchases in a single hour, and potentially a billion dollars' worth of capital raising and conversion in a day.
Saylor compared the rapid process to "building a building in a minute," emphasizing that they can convert capital and acquire the underlying Bitcoin as collateral almost instantaneously. This provides a stark contrast to real estate development, where investors wait years for a return. MicroStrategy is currently the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, with over 640,000 tokens, accounting for nearly 2.5% of the total supply.
Despite facing criticism regarding aggressive buying and potential shareholder dilution, Saylor dismissed skeptics as "strategically ignorant." He explained that equity investors value the company based on the appreciation of Bitcoin per share, while credit investors value their security based on the USD yield that is collateralized by the company's Bitcoin holdings. He asserts that the company is effectively swapping a fiat yield for a BTC yield using Bitcoin as collateral.
