Monad is scheduled to launch its public mainnet on November 24, 2025, implementing a key tokenomics decision aimed at promoting healthier long-term distribution and decentralization.

Monad co-founder Keone Hon announced that locked MON tokens will be ineligible for staking. This strategic exclusion is intended to prevent centralization risks by focusing the circulating supply and staking rewards on unlocked tokens, a move Hon believes is crucial for the network's long-term success.

The launch will also feature a robust infrastructure of 200 globally distributed validator nodes running on consumer-grade hardware, ensuring high efficiency without requiring expensive infrastructure.

While many community members support this approach—seeing it as a measure to encourage decentralized participation—some market reactions have been mixed, with concerns raised over the potential immediate impact on staking returns. This policy reflects a focus on ecosystem stability and balanced token distribution, aligning with strategies adopted by other successful blockchain projects.
