SpaceX, the space exploration company founded by Elon Musk, executed a significant $133.7 million Bitcoin transfer on Friday, according to blockchain analytics firm Arkham Intelligence.
The firm moved a total of 1,215 BTC to new, unlabeled wallet addresses. This transfer involved two separate transactions: 300 BTC ($33 million) and 915 BTC ($100.7 million). This movement comes just days after a similar transfer to addresses that were labeled as belonging to the company. It's currently unclear why SpaceX moved the funds or whether they plan to sell any of their holdings.
Prior to this recent activity, SpaceX held 8,285 BTC, valued at about $914 million when Bitcoin was trading above $110,000. This amount ranks the company as the fourth-largest privately held company with a Bitcoin treasury.
SpaceX's Bitcoin activity has fluctuated over time:
Another of Musk's companies, Tesla, also holds a substantial Bitcoin treasury, currently holding 11,509 BTC, worth more than $1.27 billion.
The article also notes that Elon Musk recently made comments on social media, praising Bitcoin's energy consumption, marking a shift from his previous environmental criticisms back in 2021.
As of the time of the report, Bitcoin was trading at $110,541, down slightly by 0.3% on the day.
