With IDC projecting a US$1.6 trillion economic impact for the Asia-Pacific (APAC) by 2028 and PwC estimating AI’s global contribution could reach US$15.7 trillion by 2030, the event underscored AI’s role as a catalyst for regional growth
The APAC gaming sector, valued at US$107 billion by Inkwood Research, showcased AI’s potential to redefine entertainment. Michael Spanger, President of SONY AI, highlighted how AI enhances creativity, enabling immersive gaming experiences worldwide. GenAI took center stage, with IDC forecasting APAC investments to hit US$110 billion by 2028. This shift suggests an unavoidable transformation, challenging traditional business models across industries.
Discussions also pivoted to sustainability, with Peter Kmec, Deputy Prime Minister of Slovakia, advocating for human oversight in smart city development. He warned against technological dominance, urging governments to bridge urban-rural divides by 2035. Tony Verb of Carbonless Asia echoed this, calling for unified efforts to meet Net Zero goals through viable tech solutions.
Spanning 180+ hours across eight themes—AI, biotech, cloud, cybersecurity, quantum, green tech, health tech, and smart cities—GITEX ASIA offered a platform for visionary dialogue. It united tech leaders, founders, and regulators, celebrating innovation while addressing critical challenges. This event not only highlighted Asia’s digital ambition but also set a precedent for future collaborations.
